This short story creeped me out. It was really scary. I guess I'm just not that much into horror stories. It was well written, however.

I read this story over the course of a Sunday afternoon, even taking my Kindle in the bath with me, I was so engrossed in this story. It was a simple enough storyline; Steve finds an antique bed and we, the reader, know there's going to be some twist here. The twist, when it comes, isn't surprising but what follows is quite tense and strangely compelling as we wait to see what the outcome will be for the bed-ridden Steve.Well written with a great flowing narrative from Travis McBee. I've never read anything by this writer before and picked this title up as a freebie. However, I will be watching to see if he comes up with anything in this genre again. :)

This was the last story in Travis McBee’s anthology, A Midnight Stroll. And let me tell you, it was one heck of a way to finish off a collection. Like most of his stories it had great character development and was really easy to get into. You just get sucked in and can’t stop until the story is out of pages to read. I really enjoyed this one and will definitely give it another read!

As it is a compilation of the 15th century Italian humanist Marsilio Ficino's letters to friends and other humanists, one should read perhaps several letters per day. Ficino takes his understanding and interpretation of Platonic and neoplatonic thought and applies it to the conditions of the Florence of his time.The work in its entirety provides an introduction and access to the cultural and intellectual history of Renaissance Italy which has influenced our contemporary culture much more than might generally be recognized. The Introduction provides a concise and reasonably thorough explanation to understanding Ficino, his times, and influences. I highly recommend this work for students of the Renaissance, philosophy in general, cultural and intellectual history, and Platonic and neoplatonic thought in particular.

A book definitely recommended for students of the history of philosophy or students of the history of the Renaissance. Most histories, no matter how deep and well-written, can only scratch the surface of this fascinating period. Original works of creativity, autobiography or letters are necessary in order to fill in the gaps that naturally occur to us tourists of these times.Ficino makes a wonderful guide for the intellectual explorer. He was a major figure of Renaissance thought, marking the transition from the Aristotelianism of the later Middle Ages to a rediscovery of Plato and Neoplatonism. Ficino translated Plato's dialogues, along with many Neoplatonic works, into Latin, making them accessible to Western scholars for the first time. His masterpiece, "Platonic Theology," was a demonstration of his belief that Platonism, unlike Aristotelianism, was compatible with Christian dogma.The letters of Ficino give us a rare glimpse into the workings of this great mind during the period he was formulating his magnum opus, as well as a window into the political climate of the times. This was an era when the letter was 'the' form of communication and his letters remain as fresh today as they did when they were written, making the book even more compelling, if possible.A volume that deserves to be in every scholarly library.

Marsilio Ficino is not mentioned as much as other famous Italian Renaissance figures but his work cannot be underestimated. Ficino's patrons were the famous de Medici banker family, Cosimo and Lorenzo de Medici allowed Ficino to devote his life to the study of Greek philosophy and Hermetic wisdom. He translated the Corpus Hermeticum and many of Plato's works that had previously been unavailable in Latin. Ficino was a devout Christian however and following in the tradition of great theologians such as Augustine and Aquinas sought to relate Christianity to Greek philosophy or at least show they were not mutually exclusive. However many in the Church were skeptical of Plato and advised against Ficino's interest in the famous Greek philosopher. This collection of letters offers an insight into Ficino's mind and worldview; topics range from Platonism to Christianity and astrology, some of his favorite topics. The translations are readable and while a novice reader might have to do some background investigation it is manageable.

This book gives a glimpse into the mind of one of the least mentioned but really influential figures of the Renaissance. You get to learn more about your spirituality.

I got this book for my husband as a gift because he was looking to expand his cooking skills. I figured this book would help him make a jump from using the grill to using an electric smoker. This book was perfect as it explains everything from the different types of smokers and choices of woods to use, to great new marinades and BBQ sauces! There are many meat (and vegetable!) recipes with easy to understand directions for the newbie. Some are pretty familiar ("Smoked Prime Rib"), some are exotic ("Fireball Whiskey Meatballs"), and some are downright gourmet ("Bacon-Wrapped Crab-Stuffed Shrimp")! My husband has been very happy with this cookbook and his newly expanded meal preparation skills. I'm happy because I've enjoyed the new recipes too (especially the veggie and dessert options) and I love it when I get a break from the kitchen! Bill West provides practical tips for entertaining, and gives useful information about ingredients along the way. He also injects humor now and then too. I highly recommend the book to anyone looking to explore the world of smoking, expanding their cooking skills or just looking for great new BBQ sauces and marinades to try.

This is a great book if you’ve just bought your first electric smoker. The recipes could be used on any other type of smoker but having directions that are specific to an electric model makes starting out a breeze. The recipes we’ve tried so far (pork shoulder, brisket, turkey) have been simple but fabulous. The suggestions on what type of wood chips to use with each recipe are particularly helpful and I appreciate that there are some recipes for sauces included even though they aren’t made in the smoker.

II recently became curious about smoking through a friend who started smoking meats. I like to grill so I had already bought Bill West's BBQ Blueprint book on someone's recommendation. Great and unique recipes! I then heard he wrote the electric smoker cookbook. I received it a couple of days ago. Now shopping for my first smoker. This book even has a section on different electric smokers. Smoked bacon-wrapped onion rings?! Maple glazed smoked salmon?! Can't wait!

Best reference for meats, veggies, types of wood, etc. for an electric smoker. My go-to book when trying a new cut of meat, fowl, or fish!.

I'll continue to give it another chance, however the temperatures on the three recipes I've tried seems to be off. My food is coming out extremely dry and over barked. The jerky came out super dry and grainy. And the pork roast ended up being extremely dry and grainy and texture. But it might just be my cooker but I'm following the recipes according to their electric cooker Masterbuilt directions.

First, this book is out of date. I mean really, hire an decent (paid - don't be a cheapo) intern for 6 months from a film school to get up-to-date info and do a little work to update this thing, will ya??Second, the type is WAY TOO SMALL. What's the point of saving pages if every two pages has WAY TOO MUCH information to absorb and take notes in the columns?Third, as I said it's a lot of information and great information. Just hard to read and out of date! LOL (*Smashed by falling comet into 2d oblivion!)

This was a required textbook. I found the information very good and timely. The writing information was balanced in that the writing techniques can be applied to other genres besides animation. I wish there was a bit more information geared towards writing and formatting graphic novels. This book is well worth its place in my permanent library. I initially received as part of my MFA program. I liked it well enough to have a permanent copy.Thank you, Jean Wright, for a great book!

I know writing is not a huge part of animation and has chipped away at the great form since the golden age to provide current slop shopped on cable television, but this is a great resource none the less. It provides one with ways and ideas to spark the interest and practice of compiling a portfolio. The author also provides an insightful way to look at the drawing of animation through the form of words set up to develop scenarios helpful to complete a project for pitch or for the uninformed individual who knows nothing of animation. A truly good reference for the ways to approach comedy and short workshop style projects and homework to develop your approaches in this type of writing.

Jean Ann Wright did an outstanding layout and informative sections regarding every detail of animation writing. Straight to the point without the long stretch. She sees very passionate with this book and it helped me clear out some new list I need to consider why in the process of writing. The importance of outlining and just keep on writing. Every detail I need to know about my script writing is very important and that I appreciate her every effort to make this book detail oriented. A+ on my grade.

I read this in 1 setting. Dr. Reed is my Primary md. She asked if I read her book I said no but will pick it up. Picked up 5 days later & found it very interesting. What I liked is that the suggestions should be easy to make 1 at a time. Also like after each chapter there were tools to assistance with changes.
