Main Line Classics 2 is without doubt the best cookbook I have ever had in 52 years of marriage. Every recipe is wonderful. The directions are easy to follow and I have raves about every meal I have prepared. This copy I bought for a friend after she and her husband had dinner with us and everything I prepared from appetizer to dessert came from this book. She wanted all the recipes so I got her the book!

I had borrowed this cookbook from my sister-in-law, who had given me the original Main Line Classics that I absolutely love and was my "go to" cookbook. Was only going make a few notations/copies of things, but so many recipes looked good, I decided to buy it used through Amazon. Very happy I did, especially for the price of $4.00!

Every recipe I have tried from this cookbook is awesome. Chicken Marengo, Chicken On Tap, French Bread Souffle, etc. are dishes I have made for family and friends again and again - all with rave reviews. The cookbook has no pictures, which is strange for me, since I like to "see" the dish I am making, but regardless, I have followed the recipes with ease and this book has never let me down!

We have used this cookbook for years and continue to go back to it again and again for our favorite and new recipes alike. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for not-too-complicated recipes that are delicious! Favorites are the Red Snapper with Black Bean Salsa and the French Pepper Steak - two recipes we have made dozens of times.

yes... Cengage wants to rip students off by printing out newer edition textbooks. You cannot by older editions even though everything is identical because little things like numbers on problems or exercises have been altered. It's stupid! I do not get why I have to pay extras just to keep cengage make same thing over and over again

Wish I could give this ZERO stars. Does NOT include the activation code for CengageNOWv2, despite the product descriptions. This will cost you ANOTHER $160 from the publisher (cengage.com). DO NOT buy from this seller if you need CengageNOWv2 for your class. TOTALLY MISLEADING product description.

Did not come with access code as promised, really dissapounted as this was the while reason i didnt just buy the online version is because the code was supposed to come with it.

This is by far the worst textbook ever. The example are woefully inept. I actually stopped reading the book after the 4th chapter and managed to get a B in the class. That's not saying anything about me having any super star accounting ability in any way. I needed help, the book was absolutely not helpful.

I really don't like this book at all. My teacher assigns a lot of the problems from the end of chapters, and they even have example problems, but they don't even provide answers to how you answer them. I'm a person who likes to learn from seeing an answer and reverse engineer it, but I can't even do that with this book. I wish instructors would steer clear from this book in the future. Awful book

The discription says it comes with the cengagenowv2 code but in reality it doesn’t!...Good book but not happy with the purchase.

This was a good copy, but not brand new. No shrink wrap, no access software. Sent back right away.

Well documented but I found it a little dry. In similar books the soldiers' banter is what provides the emotive humour, and these fit young lads, highly trained, most of them, must have had quite the banter at the time. But I suppose it was written long after the event, mostly relying on documents, letters and memory. Having said that, many folks are comparing these lads with Lawrence, and Lawrence's book was equally, if not more dry, and certainly not such an easy read as this. It's a quick read and certainly worth the effort. All such books are worth the effort for their historical value and getting a handle on the men who did this work back in the '60s. The stories of carrying weapons, explosives and ammunition within regular airline baggage is just priceless (Wish that we had it that easy!), showing just how casual everything used to be before the tech-age and modern terrorism. What does come through well, as in all Arab-leaning exploits, is the notion that no one really knew who they could trust apart from their immediate bodyguard. No one knew if the mission would continue or fold at any moment, and what their future might hold if it folded before they were ready. Last, any book which involves the Israelis ferrying weapons to bolster an Arab country (without its knowledge, of course) in its fight against another Arab country is well worth reading. Those are the things of legend that no one ever believes. It's also a necessary read to learn how we got to where we are now. Everything has consequences.

There is a lot that can be learned from this book that pertains to the goings on of today. Small groups of special operators can go into an environment and join a rebel group and make it more efficient and lethal.A much better option than to invade a country and then try to deal with the societal and cultural issues. Imagine if small teams of private military contractors went into Syria at the very beginning and gave the people the tools to free themselves and head of the scourge of ISIS?And the big take away is whether you are Egypt in the case of this book or America today in Afghanistan, never go into these types of terrain and expect to win. The terrain will always favor the defender.This book made me think of Lawrence of Arabia and his great adventures. These men did a fine job and followed in that tradition.

In light of the American withdrawal from the Middle East and now Yemen, this book isa timely reminder of the unsettled nature of the region. This story is UK and Frenchmercenaries [without official government visible support] aided the tribes and shieks and Prince of Yemen in thwating Nassars attempted controlof Yemen on the way to enlarging his influence in the Middle East. Nassar, a client of the Soviet Union, wanted to oust the West and then control the flow of oil to Europe and the U.S.Operating on a shoe-string and with periodic Egyptian gold, the mercenaries held on for almost a decade. The military leadership kept the tribes in line and also to protect thetribal interests.The story line is engrossing and the account well researched and written. End notes oftenilluminate a passage. Truly an amazing story and one worth a reader's time.

This is a real and interesting account of how the world powers acted in the cold war area - war by proxy and plausible deniability!

He has some really good insights into Sweden. The book is referenced by others for how he is able to convey their way of life. Another book along these lines is The Almost Nearly Perfect People: Behind the Myth of the Scandinavian Utopia by Michael Booth. And specific to Denmark: The year of living danishly: Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country by Helen Russell. The Russell book is very woman perspective (she's pregnant in Denmark) where Brown is very guy-ish: he's got some long details on fishing which you can skip. All three are English, which is a good kick to Americans as the English have their own pecking order that Americans need to get some perspective. All three are very good.

I don't have much of an opinion about this book, but since, as of this writing, Amazon's page has zero information about it, I guess I'll write a few lines to help out a bit.I picked this book up and read it because I am interested in Sweden's economy. Thus the book's subtitle, "Sweden and Future That Disappeared," attracted me.More particularly, I'm interested in socialist states, especially successful ones. But lately I've been reading articles about how Sweden is basically leveraged to the hilt, United States style: they have borrowed so much money to fund various entitlement programs that in the future, their taxes will have to be super-high, not to provide super-great benefits, but merely to pay the interest on their national debt.I'm also interested in the gradual Islamization of Europe, particularly in countries that have had liberal immigration policies for the past few decades.This being the case, it seemed like the book for me.Unfortunately, while the book does TOUCH on these items, it's chiefly about fishing, about which I know zilch and have zero interest.Here's part of the publisher's blurb from the inside, which I should have heeded more carefully:"Andrew Brown spent part of his childhood in Sweden during the 1960s. In the 1070s, he married a Swedish woman and worked in a timber mill, raising their small son, first in a housing estate on the edge of Gothenberg, and then in a makeshift chalet in the forest. Fishing became his passion and his escape from a country that alternately seduced and oppressed him with its mixture of communal philanthropy and deep conservatism. During the 1980s his marriage and his country fell apart as the temptations and compulsions of the outside world forced their way in."As it turns out, immigration and unsustainable social benefit programs form a very minor part of this book.The chief focus is instead of Brown's family situation and the wisdom he has received from fishing in a beautiful country. As far as that goes, it's tenderly -- may I say delicately? -- written and recalls me of the best nonfiction of Annie Dillard. Or, if I may presume, Izaak Walton.So there's no problem from that angle; it's just that I wasn't expecting that. Passages like this are typical:"In those days I fished as I lived, to a very rigid system. I would walk into the woods every chance I had, to feel that I was free, or at least elsewhere; but when I reached the lake, I cast always the same way, and fished only imitations of natural nymphs as slowly as I could move them -- though sometimes I'd forget, and catch a fish by accident, tugging a muddler through the ripples when there was a breeze." (p. 103)Towards the end of the book, there does appear a chapter on immigration:"Reading about the country from the outside, especially in the work of American hyper-nationalists, you would suppose that the whole place was on the verge of a jihadi uprising, that the satellite towns are slums full of disaffected Muslims." (p. 252). . . but the problem here is that the discussion simply doesn't seem candid. In fact, Brown never confirms or rejects the sentence above, or really seems to give his frank opinion about the matter, conclude anything, or make any projections. What discussions there are, I should add, contain very little in the way of hard data. Instead it's all along the lines of "Some think that . . . " and "Others have observed that . . . "So not very satisfying as far as what I was looking for. Make sure you're interested in and knowledgeable about fishing if you pick this up. (E.g., what the heck is a "muddler"?)The author, a Brit, has written for the Independent and the Guardian.

I want to start by saying that I get very frustrated with books that I’ve paid money for that have clearly been overlooked in the editing department. There were multiple times in the book that I noticed grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and poorly worded sentences. I’ll do my best to not let those wrong-doings affect my review, but would it kill you to just hit spell check one more time before sending this thing to the printer?The Good:David Greene has clearly experienced living in a high-priced city and being forced to invest in other parts of the country to make money. He resides in the San Francisco Bay area and started his investing career while being a police officer. That, in itself, is an impressive feat. He mentions in the book a few times that he was a millionaire by thirty, which is definitely something he should be proud of and is definitely an inspiring statement to make.He attributes 100% of his success to being able to invest in lower priced parts of the U.S. while leaning heavily on his teams in the local areas. He boasts not even needing to see properties and relying almost exclusively on the vendors that he’s created ties with to do his work for him. This is all present state of course, while getting to this period, he points out that he was working 90+ hour weeks to grind his way to success. Everyone who has invested in real estate can certainly empathize with his thoughts as to the work that really goes into investing.His focus is on two main pieces with each property that he analyzes - He is looking to either create a buy-and-hold property that will continue to be an income stream for him or he looks to flip the house and make a quick bump in capital. Focusing on just these two pieces of work, he has built out an empire in multiple cities, in multiple states, that will likely endure for a long time.The Bad:Mr Greene isn’t the most concise writer. Frequently I found myself waiting for him to get to the point of what he was going on about. I don’t know if that’s due to the fact that the book is about 300 pages and I just wanted to get to the meat and potatoes of it, or if because the book itself just wasn’t laid out in a cohesive manner. I’ve been reading real estate related literature for probably about 6 years at this point, and I feel like I generally have a good sense of the information that I’m going to receive.The book had multiple instances where it would introduce a topic and talk about that topic for 4-5 pages, then it would come to a new sub-chapter and talk about the same topic again, as if it was never introduced. My thoughts on this format are simply that David took a long time to actually write the book. Each of his chapters felt as if they were broken up over many different thought processes that didn’t flow together very smoothly. It seemed as if David would write about something, and just as he was getting to the part where he would stop explaining what it is and actually talk about how he used it, he would be onto the next topic.The biggest piece of this read that I’m missing is the HOW in his topics. He brought a ton of great topics up, but when it came down to analyzing new markets, or value add information, it felt very light.Why Read:Though I complain about the caliber of the writing and the lack of hard specific details, this book does a phenomenal job of giving a high level overview of what David’s thinking about during his investing career. If you can push through the redundancies of his writing style and the mostly high-level topics, you can definitely learn some tips on observing markets. The book serves as a great jumping off point to then go to BiggerPockets.com and research a topic more, or to jump into Google and just start typing in phrases that he introduces. I would recommend this book for someone who is still thinking about getting their feet wet with real estate and needs some confidence building with actually jumping into an out of state investment, but if you’re already an investor who has done your fair share of research you could stand to skip this one, you might pull some nuggets of information, but for the amount of text that’s here, the book leaves a lot to be desired.

David presents some very good actionable content that has clearly been gleaned from years of being an active Investor.One major criticism of his book: it is about twice as long as it needs to be. He says the bulk of the applicable stuff in the middle chapters. Do yourself a favor and utilize the table of contents to get you directly to the information you need. Avoid reading this book cover to cover.

This book does a great job of covering out-of-state (OOS) real estate investing for rentals and flips. First, the author David breaks through the mental barriers to OOS investing. Why not invest where your money gets the best return? The internet makes it possible to find great deals in markets with good returns and not a ton of competition.David doesn’t fly out and see homes and hands-on manage rehabs himself. Instead, he’s built systems where he uses trusted (but verified) professionals in his OOS markets – realtors, lenders, property managers, contractors. These professionals independently verify each other’s work and report to him using video technology.You can read through the table of contents to see that most topics you would want to know about are addressed. Most importantly, David doesn’t discuss these topics in just vague generalities. For example, you want to avoid high crime areas? Check the Trulia crime heat map. What smartphone apps are most helpful? He names some. How to motivate your vendors? Various ways – including paying them bonuses. The details are all here for you to use.This book is well worth the investment of your time and money, especially considering that you could make or lose thousands of dollars on just one OOS investment.

It is a good book, likely one of the best and most comprehensive in its category. However it relies too much on advertising for biggerpockets site and seems this is the main purpose of the book. Another issue, it would seem that there is some inconsistency about the definition of acceptable risk and using financing. Mostly he encourages buying safe low maintenance houses then talks minimally about maintenance then encourages buying run down houses. I think his strategy changed based on his financial status over the years starting with run down houses that are super cheap them moved up the ladder to lower maintenance houses. Also moved from fully finanaced to buying in cash. However that is not clear in the book. If he rearranges the books somehow then that would be better and less confusing.

If you are willing and determined to take action, this book has the potential to change your life. David Greene, with this book, gives you enough tools and resources to succeed in real estate investing, specially if you are investing in out-of-state properties. Many of the areas covered by the book included, but were not limited to, how to analyze a deal (current + potential income vs expected and unexpected expenses), differences between price appreciation and positive cash flow (as the book points out, a smart investor can have both), return on investment (ROI) vs return on equity (ROE)... and when is appropriate to use each, and why market downturns should be celebrated instead of feared. Most importantly, the book is phenomenal at explaining how to build your TEAM, who needs to be in the team, how to find these professionals, and how to leverage these relationships. In addition, the book is engaging and entertaining as Mr. Greene adds multiple real-life anecdotes and quotes and shares websites and mobile apps to simplify the process. A must read.
