The book itself is laid out ok. The information seems pretty dated (it needs revision) compared to the current job market (applications going online only, as well as job networking). There is also a lot of information that tends to be covered in other classes, like ethics/legal concerns and the history of nursing. I could understand if this book got more in depth, but it doesnt. There are also quite a few spelling mistakes.Overall the book just doesn't seem useful. It seems to assume you've never had a job before. The few bits of good information could have been taught in class without the book easily.

Eh, I needed it for class. It arrived quickly in good condition, but it's a fairly nondescript book, and most of the information had been covered in books we had used in previous classes. It wasn't the fault of the book so much as our faculty and curriculum. Like most books of this kind, it is full of business jargon and HR buzzwords, but who knows? Maybe the knowledge contained in these pages will be crucial to my nursing success someday.

Good condition

Its a pretty good read, but if you are born with common sense, then you could probably breeze through this one. There are facts tho that might come in handy to know (leadership styles, etc) when it comes to taking a Leadership course.

Excellent and clear book reading. I was so surprised at the creativity. I am surprised this book is as old as it is. It should be revised again. Many new weavers would enjoy this book because there are other alternatives to rag weaving , that is, using old clothes from thrift stores and t-shirts you can actually dye and do surface hand painting;, also. using different textures like chenille brocades and so on. I would love to create a textural surface design with the tees. Very good teaching tool and an very inspiring.

I have many books on rag rug making and so wasn't expecting much new information from this. Was greatly and pleasantly surprised; this is a wonderful book filled with techniques and instructions and all the ideas. Would recommend for every rug weaver to obtain as it is a great reference for techniques and ideas.

This book borrows heavily from JC's first autobiography, 1998's My Life In Action, and so if you've already read that book just know this new book includes many of the same stories. this book, however, definitely covers a lot of new ground, and not just post-1998 events, so it's not entirely redundant.Also, compared to the first book, Never Grow Up seems far less fictionalized. My Life In Action contains a lot of detailed dialogue, much of it from JC's very early life, and at times reads like a story book more than an autobiography. With Never Grow Up, it's easier to imagine JC himself telling the stories--the voice seems more authentic, and there aren't nearly as many dramatized and drawn out moments.One other notable difference is how much this book focuses on JC's son and wife, who are scarcely mentioned in the first book. I always had the impression that JC married and then was a completely absentee husband, but this book makes it seem like he and his wife are close and have always been fairly close. I'm not sure how much of that is an attempt to craft the image JC wants, or whether it's real.All in all, a good introduction to Jackie Chan's life and career, and a very easy read.

I truly enjoyed this book. I have only seen Mr Chan in snippets of movies so I didn't know much about him. I think I'm going to watch some of his movies in the near future.I enjoy reading non fiction and I was very impressed to finally read an autobiography that sounded real. Mr Chan doesn't sugar coat his persona and gave us an honest look at his life,not just the good but also the bad.I'm pretty sure that when he decides to stop doing movies, he will embark on something extraordinary and probably oriented towards benefiting society. Please, don't grow up Mr. Chan.

There are bits to like in this book, learning about film making in Hong Kong is great, and Jackie’s early life is interesting. But after this it becomes a slightly odd book where almost every chapter is “I did something stupid and/or mean and now I’m going to lecture you about how I learned that it was stupid or mean”. By half way through I was really starting not to like the guy, who seems to be crass with money and mean to his family. I suppose it’s honest? But not a good book

This is an easy read. The chapters flow easily and conveys Chan’s ideas without getting long winded or boring. Chan is one of the nice guys who won. Enjoyed the book.

I was very shocked and surprised by what I read in the book. Jackie comes across like a pain in the behind and bragging a lot. Yet at times he seems tender and a emotionally connected person. He seems very hard to work with but loyal. I'm stunned at the money he waste when he was raised in poverty. I always thought of him as a laid back personality until I read his book. It was very eye opening. I still love his movies and I'm still a fan

I found this book to be highly entertaining and interesting. Prior to buying the book, I read a few reviews suggesting that the book portrayed Jackie Chan as a bit of a jerk. I did not find that to the case at all. Rather, the book seems to provide an unvarnished version of key events in Mr. Chan's life. I say kudos to him to have the courage to put this out there. Especially as someone who is a resident of China....not exactly the sort of place that encourages tales of racy escapades such as Mr. Chan's. Now I understand how Jackie Chan got so far in life.

Good collection of Jackie Chan stories that give you some insight into his complicated life. Appreciate the honesty of some stories that do not paint him in the best light, but he told it anyway. Sometimes the flow between chapters feels a little disjointed, but I like to think that’s how it would be like if you met him and he’s just rambling on about what interesting anecdotes to tell the reader. Overall a fun and quick read for any fan of Jackie Chan!

A MUST for advanced 12 lead interpretation. Hundreds of 12 leads to practice with, each chapter broken down with easy to understand instruction on interpretation rules. Go beyond just looking for the STEMI and always remember as Bob said and it is so true; "In lead II, you have no clue!". I use this book as a reference teaching my Paramedic students (Para-pups) and have seen outstanding results when they reach the field. I attended Mr. Page's lecture at our State EMS Symposium, and while the book does not match the exciting style and fun atmosphere of his presentation (difficult for any book to do that, I think) as one previous reviewer mentioned, this book does a great job teaching this now essential skill. The information is organized in short-to-the-point segments and the information is presented in a common sense format. I have read or skimmed through many books on this subject matter and for me, this book did the best job. My recommendation is that every Paramedic or critical care provider should own this textbook. EMS, ER/ICU nurses, and physicians should have a look at this text. highly informative, concepts explained, plenty of examples.i went the the authors seminar a few years ago and have wanted a copy since then. glad i chose to pick this up as it's really expanded my understanding of EKGs and cardiac monitoring. i really like how Page explains WHY you place leads where they need to go, how you can look at a 12 lead and tell if it has good lead placement (R wave progression)and many more examples.

Great read! You can learn a lot from this book. I would recommend a sturdy basic understanding of your fundamentals before diving in. I hope to be in one of Bobs classes in the near future. Great way to keep sharp for your patients!

Bob Page is one of the biggest names in resources for learning 12 lead analysis. There are a lot of terrific internet based sources for keeping your skills sharp, but if you're learning 12 leads for the first time, or expanding your knowledge base because you WISH you had learned 12 leads in class but had to settle for just surviving the course, this is a great book to start with. The book begins at the beginning rather than assuming a huge background in ECG analysis. If you follow the order of analysis that this book follows, you'll find yourself well prepared to look at all those squiggly lines and make sense of it. Even better, you'll find yourself among the more educated and talented paramedics or clinicians if you can commit MOST of this book to practice.My paramedic cardiology course covered this book completely in one form or another. Because of that, when I analyze 12 lead ECGs and discuss them with other paramedics, I find my level of understanding to exceed that of other people. That's a pretty good sign that this book will put you at the front of the pack. I still go back and re-read some parts to freshen my skills.A word to paramedic students: This book shouldn't be considered "optional" for you, it's "mandatory." You'll appreciate the level of understanding you get, and nothing will be above your head.

Great book and resource to use as an adjunct to Bobs class. I try and do 4-5 strips each shift to keep that knowledge fresh in my mind. And the practice definitely helps!

For everyone who may be familiar with the drama series Ride from Nickelodeon or YTV, more power to you. I'd never heard of the show before.Nonetheless, I enjoyed this novel.Now, though I gather that it's a young YA book, it had a more juvenile feel to me, reading like a children's (perhaps middle grade?) book with teenaged characters. Maybe I'm just better acquainted with old-fashioned children's and young adult books and have less of a feel for what those genres are like these days.But anyhow, this is indeed an engaging, humorous, and motivating tale with a fun batch of characters. I thought the story's development was a bit bumpy or choppy at times, and some of the points of view seemed to be introduced/explored a little late. And, even knowing that this is Book One of a coming series, the last few scenes had me thinking, "So...that's it, then? This is where and how the story is ending?"Still, quite a worthwhile read, and I'd be delighted to continue on with the series, when it continues._____________I received a complimentary copy of this book through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program for an honest review.

A fairly formulaic novel for children, but featuring teenaged characters. There’s nothing remarkable about the story, and it includes all the usual tropes around kids and horses and cliched life lessons. The POV was all over the place, but the story was inoffensive and might making good reading for ages 8 through 10.

Pterosaurs are one of my favourite groups of prehistoric animals, and as such it is great to see an entire book devoted to them. I am also familiar with Peter Wellnofer's pterosaur book from 1991, which is quite good but has grown somewhat outdated over the years. Mark Witton's pterosaur book gives the reader the current up to date info on these fascinating flying creatures.Witton demolishes old myths about the pterosaurs, such as the myth that pterosaurs were primarily seabird analogues, the myth that pterosaurs were poor flyers, and the myth that pterosaurs were out-competed by birds.The earlier chapters focus on such matters as pterosaur origins and their anatomy, physiology and lifestyles. I especially liked the parts about pterosaur flight such as the incredibly effective quadrupedal launching methods pterosaurs used.The book then goes on to showing all the different known pterosaur groups, explaining in detail their defining characteristics and what many different researchers have deduced about how these pterosaurs lived. Some pterosaur groups have been discovered only fairly recently, such as the boreopterids. Some are still poorly understood, especially the lonchodectids whose exact appearances let alone lifestyles remain somewhat of a mystery.The book is beautifully illustrated with pterosaur pictures drawn by Witton himself. There are both pictures of pterosaurs in their natural environments, sometimes together with other creatures, and pictures of pterosaurs in profile. Interestingly, each profile picture shows the pterosaur in question launching, giving a good idea of how this could have looked. There are also many photos of fossils, plus numerous useful diagrams.I am glad to have bought this book and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in pterosaurs, or in prehistoric life in general.

I have been an amateur paleontologist since HS but the explosion of new discoveries since then has left big gaps in my knowledge, especially with regards to the pterosaurs. With many important finds being unearthed in Brazil & China, I haven't kept up. This book remedies that by being comprehensive in its coverage of most pterosaurs in an easy, not-overly-technical manner that makes it hard to put down. The many hand drawings by the author, a paleontologist-artist, add to the feel of the subject. Highly recommended for the 18+ amateur students interested in this group of fantastic creature.

There once was a time that dragons flew through the air. Not the dragons of myth and legend but real flying reptiles that prospered and diversified during the Age of Dinosaurs. They didn't breathe fire but they were magnificent, marvelous creatures non the less. In Pterosaurs, Author/Paleontologist Mark P Witton has written what is probably one of the most comprehensive treatment of these unique animals to date. Although this well written book is accessible to the lay reader, I think it was meant primarily for the professional or student paleontologist. In depth and up to date (as of 2013), Pterosaurs delves into the anatomy, evolution and behavior of these "Dragons of the Air". Parts of the book are quite technical, the chapters on skeletons and soft tissue are rather daunting but Witton does a good job, giving the reader a kind of "Anatomy 101". Chapters 10 through 25 spotlight the various kinds of pterosaurs and the author pulls no punches when it comes to naming body parts and the scientific names of each species, so be prepared. Over the years since their discovery in the mid 1700s professional interest in pterosaurs has waxed and wained but some new discoveries in the early 20th Century has brought them back into the lime light. Flight is the pterosaurs signature behavior, but how did it come about? They must have had a non flying ancestor that somehow took to the air. Although there are no fossils (so far) of a protopterosaur (HyPtA) the search is on and specialist all over the world are digging in Triassic formations for their elusive remains. Were pterosaurs good or poor flyers? Over the years opinions have fluctuated back and forth but at this point in time the consensus seems to be that they were active, competent flyers. On every aspect of pterosaur study there seems to be a vast difference of opinion among the specialists on; relationships, anatomy, flight ability, fossil analysis, etc, etc, etc.. Each one has his or her own opinion and can make a convincing argument to support their view. Witton is very good about telling all sides of the story as well as his own. Everything we know about pterosaurs comes from fossils of one kind or another. Bones and teeth, all the hard parts, are readily fossilized and have much to tell us. The soft parts; skin, organs, fur, feathers and, in some cases, the remains of the animals last meal can also be fossilized but are very rare. Then there are the so called "trace fossils"; track ways, foraging impressions and the like. When properly analyzed these can reveal many secrets of animal behavior. Witton covers all aspects of fossil interpretation and what they have to say about relationships, flight, reproduction and diet. Interpretation of fossils can lead to speculation on various aspects of the organisms life style but Witton urges caution on that front. For example: is a specimen male or female? Are two slightly different pterosaurs different species or just variation of the form-type? Do head crests indicate male-female difference or growth patterns or different species? This book covers a lot of ground but, still, it doesn't answer all the questions, no book could. In addition to the text, the book has many fine illustrations: maps, graphs, charts, skeletal reconstructions and technical restorations to help you visualize the animals. Additionally, there are some beautiful water-color plates done by the author himself and some exceptional photographs of various fossils under both normal lighting and UV. In spite of some very difficult parts this was a good read and I highly recommend Pterosaurs to anyone with a strong background in science reading. I had no technical or formatting problems with this Kindle edition.LastRanger
