This book isn’t loaded with 200 pages of bull. A little over view but then straight to the exercises. Have been doing them for just a week and I feel better. Like this and Foundations for Core and back.

I had high expectations for a book on posture by two great physical therapists who also are some of the best bodyweight fitness instructors in the world.And, it’s better than I thought. It manages to do an amazing job of explaining fairly high level stuff like the biopsychosocial model of pain and neuromatrix theory of pain, in really short, clear chapters. Like three or four pages. And each mini-chapter, with all of it’s simplicity and clarity, also lists a ton of references and a bullet-point learning takeaway at the end.What I really love, is how they approach posture — they don’t use scare tactics. They explain exactly how postural issues might cause pain, and why they might not cause any pain at all. They leave you with an honest look at how improving posture could improve strength and performance, and how it could help as part of a plan to relieve pain. It’s such a refreshing approach to both posture and pain that I think everyone should read it to get a better context for how and when they fit together.There’s a big emphasis on strength endurance, which I also love. Many of the mobility and corrective exercises were favorites of mine from when I worked in a physical therapy office, or when I’ve taken corrective exercise courses. Many were totally brand new (like the foot exercises and the shoulder reset), and I’m stoked to try them out.Another cool part is that the movements start small and work up to legit integrated strength movements. I feel like this could be integrated into someone’s workout, or they could start with this and progress it into their workout. The emphasis on building strength endurance is legit.Most of my clients come to me to lose weight. Essentially, their goal is to “look better.” And, that’s actually probably the biggest reason I would recommend this book — most people like the way they look better with better posture. If your goal is to look fitter and even more confident, I would recommend this book in parallel with your other fitness and food skill programs.Lastly, it finishes with some parts on habit change, and then different plans based on your individual needs. The plans get bonus points for having all the pictures of all the movements in each plan, which is cool because that’s way easier.So, if you want to look better and feel better in your body, I’d check out Overcoming Poor Posture. At 125 pages, it’s a quick read, which will get you right into the most important part — doing one of the plans in the book.

I had the honor of interviewing Steven Low on my podcast (Anchors of Health) regarding this book and his other amazing book, Overcoming Gravity.This book is concise, well-organized, easy to read and super practical. You can quickly read it in one sitting and start taking action right away. The book allows you to customize your approach to work on the areas you most need. Also, in the back of the book there are even sample plans. One in particular is called "on the job" for people who sit for most of the day.I highly recommend this book!

A short, useful handbook in body awareness, motor control and body weight movements. Loved the summarizing text where the 'myth busting' of how posture doesn't directly correlate to chronic pain met with the notion of the other important aspects that body weight training can offer.

I found this to be much easier to use than Deskbound. Deskbound requires a lot of tools- balls, bands, rollers. OPS just uses a band for some exercises and a dbell for dbell rows. The neck exercises have paid off. I can look completely over right shoulder and almost completely over left. The walking variations are nice for moving around at work after sitting for a long time. There are routines to address specific problem areas, a short routine, work mobility and routines that you can add to whatever other exercise plan you're doing.

It almost seems to make a lot of aches and pains go away. Good stuff in this book.

The author doesnr explicitly state what constitutes good posture so it might leave some people scratching their heads when trying to establish guidelines for the exercises. Maybe it’s as the author says: that there is no such thing as “correct posture” because that depends on the moment and what you’re doing in that moment and for how long you are doing what you’re doing. I do many of the exercises daily especially rolling around on the floor.

As always, Steven Lowe delivers direct, solid, useful rehab information. I've been following this guy's information from back in the old CF days. This book delivers no-nonsense, easy to use, efficient information and exercises on how to fix your posture that's ruined from sitting at a desk. He includes programs for people who are short on time and lays it out in a way you can actually adopt. Great book, great information.

Clancy's greatest story, in my opinion, but maybe that's because it's what started it all for John Kelly/Clark. I was too young to read this when it was first released (I think Rainbow Six was the my first introduction to the badass who is John Clark), but having read them all a time or two, this is the one that sticks by me for having the greatest depth in a protagonist and the greatest breadth in the story. Wonderful writing, from early Clancy with all the technical details that suck me in and great tones throughout - really enjoyable read that's just damn hard to find nowdays.

The first chronological book in the Jack Ryan universe, it is the origin story of the mysterious man known as John Clark. A compelling story of vengeance as John T Kelly takes the law into his own hands. This is a gripping tale and one that any fan of Tom Clancy should read. However, it is a great standalone book, and is great for any reader thirsty for just vengeance.

Awesome Book by Tom Clancy. Readers who have read other Clancy books will know John Clark already, but may not know how he became who he is. This book is riveting.

Another excellent installment into the Jack Ryan universe. This time out Tom Clancy explores the background of one of the coolest sidekicks since Spenser met Hawke. John Clark who has appeared in some of Clancy's better works such as Clear and Present Danger, Sum of All Fears, and more finally has his story told. From it's heart breaking beginnings in the aftermath of Hurricane Camille we meet a man who has the skills, the heart, and perseverance to do what needs to be done for the greater good. John Clark has always been one of my favorite characters in Clancy's universe. Jack is the idealist, Jim Greer is the wisdom, but John Clark has always been the man who holds the sword, errr.. gun. An excellent book that tracks the birth of our dark hero from the US, to the humid jungles of Vietnam, and back again. Along the way we will meet Sandy, Dr. Rosen, the tragic Pam, Emmett Ryan, Colonel Zachariahs and another one of my faves Yevgenievich Grishanov AKA Kolya. John is beset by tragedy and spends the remainder of the book trying to find resolution while helping out Jim Greer with a small problem over in The 'Nam. The book reads as part spy novel, and part Death Wish homage. It might not be for everyone but I've always enjoyed the spirit of the dark hero in books. A great read for fans of clancy's work or of the genre. A must read for all fans of John Clark!!

Excellent book. I was eager to learn how John Clark came to be and was not disappointed. A little too dramatic, though, but still one of Clancy's best books.

Clancy is great at writing thrillers that you just can't put down. This novel, on the origin story of John Clark from the Jack Ryan series, is just as well written as the Ryan series, but trades a more action movie-like tone for a significantly darker, more dramatic, and harder to swallow plot.

Good book. It was like watching a good movie or series. Characters are well defined and the book made you feel like you were there. An excellent read and very realistic. I definitely recommend readers to read the book..

I realized after I read the first page that this was one of my favorite books as a teenager, but the title had just slipped from my memory. Two decades later it's still a great book. Unless you've lived on another planet and missed the initial Jack Ryan series movies that came out in the 90s (i.e. Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger) and the current one (Shadow Recruit), this has a brief intro to Ryan via his father who is one of the investigating officers. It gives an in-depth intro to John Clark (aka Kelly). It's set during Vietnam with excursions in-country, what is now the classic heroin in dead soldiers bodies trade angle, Dexter-like vigilantism, and a hero with flaws that you can't help but like.

Good book for introducing the concept of reuse, reduce, and recycle. I appreciated how the book avoided questionable science n technology and just focused on everyday lifestyle perspectives. The book does a good job of normalizing the sharing of second hand clothing and hand me downs objects and that doing so is responsible. Overall this book gives an interactive starting place or springboard into further ecological curriculum.Side note: I want to make it clear that i am not a green radical and i do not own a solar panel or windturbine.... I am a homemaker and scientist who just happens to know the real facts. The flat out truth is our society is so caught up in materialism and convenience that we are harming the earth at an unprecedented rate. Think of how many cities put all their trash on barges and dump it into the sea... Burry it in the ground.... Or burn it releasing the chemicals into the air. Think of how many chemicals go into making these items that are thrown away... Do we really want to eat those chemicals in our seafood, drink them in our water, or breathe them in? Green energies are not the solution to our problem. What we need is drastic societal changes to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

this is a cute book. no underlying political statements. gives a lot of information. illustrations are engaging.

I'm a Daisy Scout leader and after we toured the county recycling center, we read this book and did a fun craft with plastic garbage bags (made "Plarn" bracelets). The girls were attentive and liked the story and imagery. They earned their 'Use Resources Wisely" petal from this and I might read it with my kids on Earth Day, too!

I'm taking the exam on 5/30 so I'll give an update on how well I did. I bought this book specifically because you can't find very many websites that give varied practice exams/questions. Many of them reuse the same questions and you'll quickly run out of material to practice. So, herein lies my decision to buy this book. It had 3 practice tests within its pages and had very good reviews. I am now leaving a review after getting through the 2nd practice test. 1)There are a lot of typos/editing issues. This company needs to fire their editor. I know a previous reviewer mentioned that you can have a question correct, but the answer key has the wrong letter choice, making you believe you have the answer wrong until you read through the explanation. 2)A lot of the reading comprehension passages are the SAME ones I've found on websites online offering free (note the word FREE) practice. Could the websites have copied from this book? Sure, but it still frustrating that I've bought a book with material I've already seen on websites. 3)I have taken gen. bio, chem, physics, organic chemistry, a&p, and biochem and previously taken the MCAT. Some of the questions that are asked in those science sections are questions I would expect to see in upper level courses and even on the MCAT, not all of the questions, but many. Definitely not on the level I have seen on websites with free practice questions. Then again, I haven't taken the exam yet, so we shall see if the difficulty is similar to ones shown in the book. 4) A lot of the questions are reused, particularly questions in the Vocab&Gen. Knowledge sections. Like, sure it'll help hammer in particular words you may not know, but unless these are the same exact words that will be on the HESI exam, there is little to no variation for the vocab section. 5) I wish the answer sheet, where you put the letters of the answer to compare to the answer key, were made to be torn out so I didn't have to keep flipping back and forth to put my answers on the sheet and to compare the answers with the answer key. Overall, I would say the book does give you a lot of varied problems, which was my primary reason for buying, but I am sure that there are better practice tests available on the market that would be much more valuable than this book.

I love the concept of how this book test your knowledge and gives you 3 different exams for all topics if nursing. The only issue is that I have found a handful of typos. There are misprints in the answer section, so like I would think I got an answer wrong when comparing after I quiz myself by looking at the letter indicating what answer but when I read the reasonings the book provides, I turn out to be right. There should be a proficient editor prior to marketing a product. This product is very helpful and I love but they need to fix this. For the customer it would be less of a hassle. Overall, besides the few quirks, I'd buy it again!

I did these practice tests on a timed basis, just as the real exam. The sample questions are very closely assimilated to the actual Hesi exam. The answer key helped me write a study guide for what I needed to improve upon. For anyone who is taking a healthcare entrance exam, I highly recommend using these practice exams!

Very good book, It helped me prepare myself for the exam. It helped me understand what areas i need to review. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to study nursing.It would be better if the answer sheet could be removed from the book, it was difficult and irritating to have to flip back and forth.

I did very well on the HESI, in the 90th percentile thanks to this and one other book I used.

It's a good review book, I passed my HESI test on the 2ND try, but do not go thinking the book is like the test because it's not , in this book it doesn't show any metric system conversions, you have those on the HESI , mostly fractions and proportions , for math , English is English, the vocabulary is different from what's on the test maybe 5 words from the book is on the test

Our daughter needed this for the nursing entrance exam & made 100 on math & 96 on a different section the first time she took the test. So I would say this was worth it

The practice test on here were very similar to the one's on the Hesi. I would definitely recommend this book. Practice , practice makes up for a better test score.

*I received a copy from the publisher for an honest review.*In Frostborn, Lou Anders created a fictional world with a bit of mythology and fantasy figures. Think Lord of the Rings, but for a younger crowd.Our story begins with a typical boy who has no desire to take over his family's farm. He would much rather be a kid and play his favorite game, Thrones and Bones. Each year, Karn's family travels to meet and trade with the frost giants. This year, Karn meets Thianna, a half-giant (half human, half giant). Since they're the only 2 "kids", they decide to hang out.While they're playing and talking, they develop kind of a friendship. I loved that Thianna took pride and was happy each time Karn called her big or tall. Since she was a half-giant, she wasn't near as tall as the giants and was often made fun of by some of the younger giants.When we get to the mystery involving a spirit and Karn's [evil] uncle, something bad happens. Karn is then on the run!When the giants get back to their home, there is a group of women hunting for Thianna. She, also, is then on the run!The two of them, fortunately, end up together while they're running and hiding.Once together, the two manage to get into trouble and run into creatures that no one wants to run into. However, since they were together, they were able to survive. If not together, they wouldn't have made it individually. Thianna had some frost magic and brute force, whereas Karn had brains and thinking skills.I really enjoyed that the two of them really relied on one another. They built a fantastic friendship, even though they were running for their lives. I was turning pages so quickly because I was so worried (and excited) as to what was going to come at them next. Karn and Thianna formed an everlasting and strong connection.If you are a fan of middle grade, RPGs, fantasy, LotR, or even The Lion King, you will enjoy Frostborn! Yes, The Lion King! There were so many parallels that it made my little Disney heart pitter-patter!

After I accepted the second book in the Thrones and Bone series, Nightborn, I immediately went to he library to buddy read it with my oldest. Ironic enough, Frostborn was a book I have previous checked out for him that he never got around to reading.I am not a huge middle grade reader – but it’s one category that I have been wanting to get into for a while now. Fantasy probably wasn’t the best of genres to start with though, to be honest.Frostborn had a really slow start. The story didn’t really progress until about 40%, with the introduction to the characters and world building. This is not necessarily a bad thing – but it took a lot of patience on my part to get past this.We have an array of characters; the main two being Karn, a boy next to take over his family farm and Thianna, a half-human/half-giant. Once these two are introduced, the story really picks up its pace and doesn’t let up from there. These two make a great team – with Thianna’s stubborn and tough personality and Karn’s wit. Their adventures were quite entertaining and love how everything pieced together in the end.Overall – Frostborn was a great start to a series. Minor pacing issues aside in the beginning, it’s entertaining with an interesting world with Norse history and lore, fans of fantasy books will get a kick out of this one!
