The resident 10 year old loves StacyPlays, and as her mom, I do too. Stacy is kind, kid friendly, has a sense of adventure, and loves animals - I'll happily let my kiddo watch her YouTube videos and was happy to buy this for her.Well, it arrived yesterday and in just a couple of hours, my daughter had finished the book. This one took her a tiny bit longer to read simply because she kept stopping to tell me what Stacy was doing in the book and talking all about the funny quirks of the wolves. She loved them all, but especially Addison and Wink.The book has the same sense of humor and adventure that Stacy brings to her videos.Hope book 2 is done soon!Oh, and as Stacy might say: Go rescue a dog!

The book arrived yesterday and my 10 year old loves it! She read the entire book last night and is already asking when the next one will be out. Stacy inspired my daughter so much that she spent half of today writing her own book. One thing I really appreciate about Stacy is that she works hard to make quality content that is age appropriate. We were already huge fans of her minecraft and field trip videos and couldn't be more excited to start reading her books. I loved this book soooo much. It was so addicting and couldn't stop reading it. I was so extra and i love it. It had a dictionary at the back, had a real interview of a person who works with wolves, and it had pictures! Not many books these days have pictures anymore. This was a great book and would read it again.

This review is for the Kindle version of this book. I haven't seen the print version.I need to split this into two sections; one for the overall content and one for the design and layout.As far as knowledge content goes this book is a great primer on locks, how they function and the mechanisms and tools employed for bypassing them. Deviant has a wonderful talent for taking technical knowledge and delivering it in a conversational tone that makes it easy to understand and retain. I've seen others try and share the same information and it just falls flat. On that level alone, this book gets five stars.Where layout and formatting is concerned, the book needs some serious help. It looks as though the rough draft was approved for publication. The irregular fashion in which images and notations are inserted into the flow of text and the seemingly random sized boxes used to separate them looks jarring and amateurish.I don't understand why he chose to use greyscale versions of his lock diagrams. I've seen the slide presentations where they were originally used and in full color, they very clearly differentiate the components of the lock and allow for highlighting and directing the reader's focus to the pertinent portion of the image. In greyscale, they lose virtually all of their impact. The inclusion of a single color image (Figure 3.7) is a horrible tease and I wonder why it was included.As for the photography, many of the photos used have blown out contrast to the point of rendering the image barely usable. It's likely because they were converted from color to greyscale as well, but that's just a guess.Overall, this book is an amazing resource. I've seen most of the information in various sources before but Deviant has pulled together all of the basics (and then some) into a single location and presents it all in a very user friendly fashion. I just wish some more thought/time/effort was devoted to the design and layout of the book. In it's current form, it's a lead-off stand-up double. Clean it up and fix the design issues and it's a walk-off home run.

Practical Lock PickingThe author does a fantastic job at covering the fundamentals of lock picking. He breaks it down into simple components and concepts, and then steps it up to cover advanced techniques and various anti-tampering lock designs. The one complaint I have is that while there are numerous diagrams to help you visualize the lock designs, pins, etc... you have to physically practice to get a better understanding. Some of the diagrams didn't make sense to a beginner, but after reading the book, the basics are all in there and it is a matter of developing practical experience and knowledge. What I got out of this book was that for every wild and crazy lock design intended to prevent tampering, there is a key or a way to get past it.Overall: 4/5 stars

I have seen lock picking in movies my whole life and always believed it was one of those movie magic gimmicks but this book clearly shows you how easy it really is to pick most American style locks. The diagrams and explanations could be followed by a child. After reading this book I immediately started investigating replacing all the locks in my life with high end Abloy locks. Too bad those locks are so expensive (but almost impossible for most people to crack). As it is now, I feel like my house is totally insecure with the regular locks on my house like everyone else house.

The book is well written, very informative, very easy to understand, and a fun read to boot. Since I picked up this book I've been getting better and better at lock picking. Great introduction to the skill. Would recommend for anyone interested in lock picking.

Ollam has great patience and a very friendly instructional manner that helps set many people at ease as they learn the frustration of lock picking.The book structure is well put together and eases people through the process, allowing for readers to jump in at the appropriate location for their skill set. Lock picking is a purely practical science, so the inclusion of graphics and images were well needed, and greatly appreciated. What really makes the book is the included disk that includes all of the book figures, in color, as well as animated figures and videos from past training sessions. Reading the book while having the disk contents open next to you allow you to quickly read the content, reference the animated figures, and then try them out for yourself before moving on.Overall, excellent structure and presentation. This is a must-buy.

Christopher James is an internationally known artist and photographer whose photographs, paintings, and alternative process printmaking have been exhibited in galleries and museums in this country and abroad. First, this is the last time you will be likely to see this book as a single volume. It's already like carrying around an unabridged dictionary. Unwieldy, yet irresistible, the next edition will be forced into two volumes (maybe three!).I waited months to get my hands on this. It was worth the wait. Extremely well-written and entertaining too, there is no doubt this is now the gold standard for what is currently called "alternative photography", but will no doubt be called something else in the near future. After all, silver based photography is in fact already an "alternative" to digital. And digital photography is now providing some of the tools needed to practice alternative techniques in greater depth.The great yellow father caused the brakes to be put on most of these "alternative" processes many years ago, and halted progress by amateurs via their repugnant secret keeping. I'm hoping that this book, and others like it, in addition to renewed interest in silver and a desire not to allow just one approach to take over again, will lead to renewed research and experimentation by photographers of all levels. If new and better processes don't result from the publication of this book, I will be very surprised.

Simply put - this is an incredible, deeply informative and READABLE book. While much of the literature on alternative processes focus primarily on methods and materials, I was interested most in the history of photography when I purchased this book. In this regard, "Alternative Photographic Processes" does not disappoint, because of the clarity with which Mr. James discusses his subjects, but perhaps more importantly - and surprisingly - it has me psyched to experiment with analog photography and hopefully take classes with the author.You will see work and learn about processes that you never could have imagined existed: anthotype and cholorphyll processes (and how some enterprising artists preserve their work in "solid blocks of resin!!), Athenatype, Ziatype - EVERYTHING! And then - you will want to see how those processes could fit into your workflow and developing artistic vision!Just get this book if you have any interest in photography at all.

I got this to learn how to do Wetplate Collodion (tintype)...HOLY COW...this covers pretty much every photographic process. So far it seems well written and very accessible (not boring). One of the little easter eggs was the Creme Brulée recipe as a response on what to do with all the egg yolks left over from Albumin printing. Good mix of history, theory, and practical advice. I especially love how almost each section has contemporary art examples (like the cover) for each of the processes. I haven't put the formulas to the test yet, but each section is so completely thorough, i doubt there will be any issues. I purchased this thinking that it would be the first of many, but i honestly think this is THE definitive bible for alternative processes. Kinda pricey, but will will save a helluva lot of money and time in the long run.

Wow. I thought the first edition held more information than I could ever take in. Then the second, expanded edition came out, and I was once again blown away. The third edition is so massive and packed with processes (old and new) and additional information that I hardly know where to begin. Making pinhole cameras….calotypes….anthotypes…salt prints….albumen….gum bichromate (HUGE variety)….wet plate (a chapter that could be a book on its own)….Bayard's direct positive process….carbon prints….hand-applied emulsions….various paper and other substrate preparations….and this is just scratching the surface!Christopher has a fun and entertaining way about him that translates well to the written word. He has been a teacher and mentor to many successful artists through the years, and his style is casual and easy while being very thorough. In his books, you get a little history that leads you into a chapter with everything from basic table set-ups, to different chemicals to use and how they affect the process, to different papers and other substrates, to loads of other types of information that is simply too extensive to list here. There are also many, MANY beautiful images used as examples throughout the book that intrigue and delight.This is one not to be missed!

This is arguably the best resource for alternative photographic processes. There are several different chemical ratios for each process and specific guidelines to follow that make it relatively easy to learn the basics of a new process. It is also beautifully illustrated with photographs of many of these processes so that you also have a visual reference. I love this book...I say it's my photography bible.

I officially recycled all my other alt-pro books when I found this one. Why recycle? Because I didn't want to risk circulating bad information out there. Before finding Christopher's book, I had been working in alternative process photography, some techniques learned in college, some in workshops, some self taught for 15 years.From set-up to process to finish, this book gives me all the instruction and troubleshooting clues I need to complete a successful print. He takes the mystery out of the process while sharing his sense of humor (necessary in this line of work).I especially like the historical attributes he offers and that I can get all of this in one book! Yes, it's hefty, I don't carry it around with me. But it is prominently displayed in my studio where I work.When I replaced my first edition with the second, I wrote on the inside front cover: "This is the first edition, good information but there is a newer edition out there so FIND IT!" then took it to the thrift store in hope that someone interested in alternative processes will find it and get hooked.

Each projectile also has a brief description of the geographical area and chronological era giving a more comprehensive understanding of the purpose and evolution of these tools. An exceptional reference guide for Pacific Northwest artifacts.

This is a very good book for people interested in Indian Artifacts and written by a very knowledge man on the subject I highly recommend the book.

I bought this book to add to my collection of American Indian Artifact books. But the pictures are very bad, fuzzy and not much detail to be seen. Not a good purchase, so I returned it.

He gives you some great ideas and tells about the best platforms available today for reaching your audience (like Facebook) for example and discusses the best places to stream.He also enlightened me to something I think is very cool - THE COOL FACTOR - which is streaming live on multiple platforms - live Facebook and YouTube - SIMULTANEOUSLY. ----->MIND BLOWN<----- as I had no idea this was possible!He pointed out something very significant, and that is everyone in this space should consider one of the new domains available so that you can have your audience go to once specific domain and reach you on all your platforms. I enjoyed this book. It is for both men and women to read. It has a good mixture of interviews, narratives, short stories etc. It really draws out the difference between women and ladies. Some parts are contradictory. He may write several pages as to why you should do one thing, then say "but do what you want". It's very suggestive (uses dialect like "try" "should") versus being straight out "do this this and this". There are some parts that drag on and on where it seems he may personally (or perhaps feedback he's received have asked him to elaborate more) have topics of which he (for lack of better terms) blabbers on.There is also a good component that brings in what men's points of view are. Some of my concerns are this book can't be applied universally, because unfortunately it doesn't acknowledge differences in race as a social structure. Overall, good book.

I read about three-quarters of this book and had to stop --- there was no relevant and new information about etiquette for a woman who is interested in being more of a lady. I even ran some of the passages in the book past my husband, wondering if I was missing some level of meaning because I'm female and the book was written by a man... but my husband just seemed mystified by the point of view espoused by the author. I have the Judith Martin book "Miss Manners" which covers etiquette details in a very complete way - the details about sending cards, addressing cards, hosting parties, giving gifts and the like - without subjective, quasi-religious lecturing. For hard, specific relationship and self-esteem advice, I would recommend the Dr. Laura books about valuing oneself and others, and treating a spouse well. I was considering donating this Gentlewoman book to my local library, but I don't want to be responsible for spreading this nonsensical content around. I'll probably recycle it.

I hesitated in purchasing the book when I first heard my circle of friends gushing about it. I followed him on Instagram and read the excerpt from the book that changed my decision to purchase the book. It was life changing, I've applied mostly everything within the book into my life. He changed my perspective on dating and the standards I required, how to be a classier a woman in regards to tipping, conversations with people, and oddly enough staple pieces for my closet. I've gifted this book to my friends, coworkers, enemies and even random strangers at Barnes & Noble, this is a staple piece within a book collection. When I enter the chapter of motherhood, I will definitely gift this book to my daughter. He's definitely become of my favorite authors and at this point he can sale me a children's book, I'll purchase it.Thank you so much for this book ! I could go on and on about this book but let's be real, YOU NEED THIS BOOK !

Mr. Bereola has some wonderfully penned descriptions of a "new" brand of feminism which isn't really new at all, but very, very old and one-time very established, though fading fast in modern culture. What he so eloquently describes here is that old Southern Belle charm; the iron fist in the velvet glove that our grandmothers knew all about, having learned it from their mothers and grandmothers. I'm not sure where we've lost it along the way, but it's definitely a necessary topic.Though he ventures close to chauvinism a few times, he manages to save himself with a perfect turn of a word, making it seem alright even if he has put a toe over that line. Even if the reader doesn't agree completely with everything the author has to say, the manner in which the information is presented makes it a worthwhile read, nonetheless.

I absolutely LOVED this book! Normally I don't write reviews but I must verbally express my sentiments and let everyone know how much this book has changed my outlook on life and made me appreciate not settling! This is a must read! I like to think of Gentlewoman as my 2nd bible! Enitan Bereola is an amazing writer and this book is stunning! This book spoke to my soul and made me realize how WORTHY I am! KNOW YOUR WORTH. DONT SETTLE. He brings it with raw passion and blatantly honest for the ladies. Men can read this book too. After reading this I definitely am purchasing his first book Bereolaesque. I highly recommend this book. It will change your life and make you realize you dont have to put up with any BS in any situation. I am always raving about this book. I couldn't put it down. I read it in 2 days!!! This book gets my highest praise. I am a voracious reader and this captured another part of my spirit I didn't know was there! Cant wait for the next...

The minute I opened the mailbox and saw this gem of a book inside, I knew it was going to be a grand day! I had seen many friends/strangers raving about this book on social media and decided to make the move and purchase! Best thing I could have ever done! Finished it in 5 hours. Beautifully written, sexy, fun and just overall left me with a warm, tingly feeling on the inside. Tears welled up when I got to the last page because I didn't want the ride to end. Let me tell you this book is amazing, it's for anyone and everyone. Whether you're already well spoken, well traveled, funny, witty, etc. this book definitely makes you want to be even better. The different Bible scriptures intertwined into the chapters were brilliant. It made me happy that there are still ladies out there who still enjoy keeping their femininity while still having a good time. The author proves that you don't have to be rigid to be a lady, you can still have fun, be witty, smart, sexy and still classy at the same time. It doesn't have to be one or the other.Ladies (and gentlemen) if you're looking for a good book, a pick me up or a wake up call. This one's for you!
