I bought this book and its companion "Understanding the FFT" to add to my basic knowledge of Fourier transforms. I need to know how to implement FTs and so far these books have been a better reference for this than any of the others I've read. Aquiring this practical understanding has been made much easier. I own both the Understanding the FFT volume and its companion, Understanding FFT Applications. They have their place on my technical bookshelf. If you are new to the FFT, or just so-so with undergrad level engineering math, then this series of volumes on the FFT is likely to prove a gold mine. If you eventually tire of being taught by example at a sometimes slow and tedious pace after you are exposed to the basics, look elsewhere.The complete titles of the books say it all. They are tutorials for laymen, students, technicians and working engineers. They are NOT sophisticated. If you are seeking enough understanding to grasp some fundamentals by example they can be highly recommended as a place to start.Unfortunately, despite its strengths, the series feeds into the "this is all you have to know if you are a practical person" mentality frequently expressed by many I've met in the technical areas. The ideas of "practical and useful" should always be qualified by the terms "for what and to whom". It all depends on who you are and what you are trying to do.It is true that sometimes it is better to cut to the heart of the matter with simplistic approaches, but challenging problems are not all reducible to these kinds of "seat of the pants" approaches. The trick is knowing when to "hold or fold". Sometimes it is actually more "practical" to acquire a more sohpisticated approach to a subject, as it saves huge amounts of time and effort later on, and can provide insights that are not initially obvious.Fourier transforms are a sophisticated mathematical tool with broad applications frequently found in areas where analysis of complex data sets is important. There are wonderful pictures in this book. It is a very detail oriented book with big scientific words, which makes it a difficult read; however, you will probably find anything you wish to know about oral pathology in this book.

This is a good reference book for those NOT specializing in treatment of oral and facial pathologies. I strongly recommend another book called Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology: A Rationale for Dioagnosis and Treatment by Marx and Stern because it is replete with excellent photographs, illustrations, and discusses a disease from its pathogenesis to treatment phase thoroughly. (I own this book as well as the one I recommended.)

This book is almost as large (600 pages) as the undertaking to put on the show on which it's based! The book contains two or more pages on each of the motorcycles that were included in the show that was 'The Art of the Motorcycle' In addition to a thumbnail of specs and citing the owner of each bike, there is a small write-up that gives a bit of background on where the subject fits into motorcycle history. I've met or know of several individuals who were involved in this exhibit and have to say this was a huge undertaking that was well executed. I missed the actual exhibit, but thanks to this publication, I can revisit it as often as I like. In addition to the bikes themselves, the authors have seen fit to supply a lot of reference material (in the way of significant publications and contributors) for the reader to explore the subject further. An amazing book that is now the jewel in my reference library!

I already had a copy of this and found one for my father, which I gave to him for Christmas. He's too old to ride anymore, but reading the essays and looking at the photos of bikes, some of which he once owned, brought smiles. The price I paid for a first edition, flawless hardcover copy, apparently a first edition, was surprisingly low. Super-high quality paper, binding and printing, and the bikes are pretty decent, too. If you love motorcycles or love someone who does, this is a must have.

I admittedly got this just for the beautiful photographs and descriptions of all the bicycles at the end, but I look forward to reading the history and stories in the beginning. All around a beautiful assembled book.

He's a bit lumpy and uneven and has many defects, but I'm confident that with this books help, my next one will be much better. I love him anyway!I can't wait to get through the early projects and try my hand at the Mini Bears! They are adorable! And she shows so many variations that you'll never get tired of making them. I am confident that with this book, I will advance quickly and easily to making the mini Bears I've been dreaming about. I really love this book! It has a great Classroom style that makes it very easy to use. TONS of beautiful pictures explain every step. I am a beginner at felting and had some questions about technique and general rough spots that I was running into and Liza answered them all. The projects are very appropriate for each level and cute as heck.Lisa Adams explains absolutely everything that you'll need to get started with this fun craft. From the simple needles, to the more advanced tools and when/if you'll need them. She explains the different types of wool and which kind works best for what you are trying to achieve or the level you are at. Christmas Ornaments, Pincushions, Dolls, Keychain Heads, Bears and Rabbits, then onto creating your own variations.I've included a fun "before" picture of a bear I tried to make before receiving the book. He's a bit lumpy and uneven and has many defects, but I'm confident that with this books help, my next one will be much better. I love him anyway!I can't wait to get through the early projects and try my hand at the Mini Bears! They are adorable! And she shows so many variations that you'll never get tired of making them. I am confident that with this book, I will advance quickly and easily to making the mini Bears I've been dreaming about.Please note: I contacted Ms Adams and her publisher when the book was first put up for pre-sale because I was too excited to wait until I could buy it. They generously sent me a review copy for which I am giving my honest review. Thank you all!

This book was not quite what I was looking for, but it was an enjoyable read and it did inspire me to make a little bear, so I would say it was well worth the money spent. It was just what it says, basics to bears. I was hoping there might be just a bit more in offerings in the animal face area than there was. The books all seem to be somewhat specialized, birds, dogs or strange imaginery animals. I was wishing for a bit of a range of faces, but it did not happen here. That is not at all the fault of the book, it was just a wish on my part that did not quite happen. The book was well written, the photos were helpful and overall if you are new to needle felting this book was a good place to start.

Excellent book. Great step-by-step pictures and details. Covers a wide array of felting projects and in a manner that makes the projects universally useful and not just single project oriented.

Cute felting projects. Lots of photos help beginners like me. Easy to read and understand instructions.

As much as any writer, Gardner Fox helped create the tone and feel of the Batman stories of the 1960s. I read Silver Age DC comics from 1957 until early 1963, when I got my drivers license and moved on to cars and girls. I had the original Starro issue and many others in this Omnibus, which ends in September 1964. Unfortunately, my mom found and tossed hundreds of Silver and Golden Age comics in the trash while I was away at college.This Omnibus includes The Brave and the Bold #28-30 and Justice League of America #1-30. The front and back covers of the Omnibus I received are as pictured. The front cover is from The Brave and the Bold #29 (May 1960), " Challenge of the Weapons Master". The back cover is from the Justice League of America #2 (Jan 1961), "Secret of the Sinister Sorcerers". I can't begin to describe how vivid the Omnibus colors are. The background white is so white, it makes the colors pop. Brand-new comics in the 50's and 60's never looked this good. For those with concerns, the binding on mine was just fine.

Brings back fond memories of my elementary and junior high days spending hours with my favorite super heroes!

The stories were fantastic! The art bright and beautiful! This omnibus brings me the same joy that the original comics did. I remember running home with the new Justice League comic in hand, breathlessly diving into the world of heroes and science fiction!

The beginning of one of DC's best known titles packaged for you in glorious color and an oversized format; it's al of content and you'll probably have to work the spine a few pages at a time before you read it so you don't lose any pages- but it all starts here for DC's best super team. You know you want it.

Pure undiluted nostalgia in a nice good quality printing quality. Although a bit heavy on the stomach when bed-reading. That goes for more of the omnibus books on the market today. I read my first JL-story in black and white in the 60's when it was introduced in my country. Supaerman and the main members of the DC-family were wellknown in Sweden then but the combination found in JL was different. From political (?) reasons the word America was taken away in the Swedish title but the stories were way out from the very beginning. It is nice to meet them again like this even though the over-simplifications and slightly absurdist story twists are a bit out of date. Not to mention the ever growing number of more or less weird super-heroes from the Multiverse. They are OLD but charming!

I love SILVER AGE and BRONZE AGE DC. But this book plays with my kids like an art. Some of it is willfully surreal, all of it is well-illustrated.

In this volume, I found the origin of Amazo, the first encounter with Despero... The drawing is not the best, but the book is indispensable because of the origin of the super villains.
